The project was launched in 2018 by two NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and continues today as a private company. The company called Khmer Green Charcoal has created jobs with its production, which benefit the poor regions in Cambodia. The positive effects of using briquettes are also the reduced amount of waste. Especially in poorer countries, where waste disposal is almost non-existent or does not function properly, this fact is very valuable. The product is very popular in Cambodia and over 6,500 consumers are supplied with this sustainable fuel in the country.
